 Mission
    The mission of the Hidalgo County Child Welfare Board is to:
 
  • support victims of child abuse and neglect;
  • ensure the needs of Hidalgo County children in foster care are met; and
  • educate the local community regarding these issues.
  • to help children in foster care lead the most normal lives possible under less than ideal circumstance ; and
  • to help reduce cases of child abuse and neglect in the future

 Goals
   The Goals of the Hidalgo County Child Welfare Board are to:

            

  • To ensure that the organization's goals, activities and planning at all times be related to the total needs of children and families in the community, and to cooperate with other agencies, county authorities and municipal authorities to this end
  • To serve as public representative of the organization by promoting and explaining its programs and policies to the community.
  • To consider and justify the financial needs of the child Protective Services units operating in Hidalgo County, use all means available to secure local funding to meet those needs not funded by State and/or federal funds, and to justify its budget to the community and the commissioner's Court of Hidalgo County, Texas.
  • To identify and secure private community resources willing to help meet the needs of children under the care of Child Protective Services and to use and account for these resources through a fund which shall be called the Special Children's Fund.
  • To Coordinate operations and develop local agreements, as necessary, with other community agencies serving children.
  • To Evaluate the programs and review the quality of services of the Child Protective Services Units, and be consistently observant of changing community needs.
