This year, the HCCWB will be taking a more active role in supporting  Family Group Conferencing (FGC), a form of Family Group Decision Making (FGDM), a program undertaken by the TDFPS Child Protective Services. Because state funding does not adequately provide the needed monetary support for this program, agencies such as the HCCWB are needed to facilitate the success of this program.

The HCCWB's goal in supporting this program is to assist the local Child Protective Services by either (1) directly providing or (2) soliciting community support to provide for, the following needs:

• meeting places for family group conferences,
• meals for families during the conferences,
• travel expenses for extended family members coming long distances, and
• locating persons willing to be trained as neutral facilitators.
